My Transformation to a Knight Football Mom

Am I A Knight Football Mom?

If you see me on game day, you might peg me as a knight football mom. I have my two kids dressed from top to bottom in team gear and a bag with everything I could need and more, but I wasn’t always this way!

It Wasn’t Always This Way!

Growing up, we were more of a soccer family. My dad played soccer while growing up, and all of my sisters and I played at some point. We would sit down and watch a game of soccer together, but never a football game. The closest thing to watching football as a family was the Super Bowl, and I distinctly remember helping my mom in the kitchen during the actual football game and running back when the commercials came on.

Later on, I went to the University of Cincinnati for college. During my freshman year, I tried out a few football games just because it was the thing to do, and student tickets were free. During my freshman year, our stadium was under construction, so the Bearcats played downtown in Paul Brown Stadium.

It was a good time, but in my opinion, it wasn’t worth my time to get downtown and take the stinky student shuttle to get home. So, for the rest of my college career, I really didn’t go to or watch the games.

How I Became A Knight Football Mom

Then, after college, enter my husband, one of the biggest football-loving UCF Knights fans out there! He started taking me to games, going to restaurants to watch them, and basically never missing a football game. I, being a curious and competition-loving individual, started to learn the game and found myself truly enjoying football!

Whether fate or a fun coincidence, UCF plays UC yearly and moved conferences together this past year! While I am a Knight fan through and through, I have found my love for my university grew stronger with my love of football. Now, I can say that every year, it’s a family affair to watch the UCF vs. UC game.

Will you be at the game this year?
