GameDay Fashion for Little Knight Fashionistas

For all you Mama Knights out there with little knight fashionistas. You know that the perfect game day look is a vital part of a successful tailgate and game day!

First, Let’s Talk Outfits…

I understand that many of us are tempted to buy all the adorable UCF merchandise for our kids when the season rolls around. The moment you spot the UCF section at Target or see the entire back line of Walmart filled with kids’ outfits, sweaters, and just about everything else, it’s hard to resist. But I’m here to say… take a breath. Even if you’re a season pass holder, there’s only one game a week. My daughter loves options, but I never have more than two or three shirt/dress options. They’ll outgrow them by next season, so pace yourself!

When selecting your outfit, be sure to consider the weather. While the usual verdict is “Wow, it’s really hot,” you might be surprised by a few games, especially towards the end of the season. Once the sun goes down, it can get chilly (relatively speaking for an Orlando game).

Here’s a pro tip: on those scorching hot tailgating days, I highly recommend bringing a change of clothes. No one enjoys sitting in wet, stinky clothes! After a few hours outside for the tailgate, that’s exactly what you’ll have. So, pack a second set and leave them in the car. As you’re wrapping up your tailgate or finished walking around, do a quick change and refresh.

Now, Let’s Talk Hair…

Next, you have to consider the hair for your little fashionistas. I know all hair comes in different textures, lengths, and thickness, but I believe this can be a blanket statement: for a game, keeping the hair up and out of the way is the way to go!

My absolute favorite game day hairstyle for my oldest daughter is two French braids with Knightro-colored ribbon woven in and out. It’s actually super simple if you already know how to French braid. Or if you’re like me and didn’t know… well, there’s a learning curve. Let’s just say the first Knightro French braids were not something I took a picture of.

You will need Knightro-colored ribbon (mix and match any colors or patterns), two hair rubber bands, two bobby pins, and a fine-toothed comb.

Finally, Don’t Forget the Cute Pic with the Cheerleaders!

Lastly, when you’re at the game and you’re feeling like a rockstar because everyone is saying how adorable your kids are! Don’t forget to document the cuteness with a cheerleader picture. It’s truly a tradition and a highlight of the game!
